Hello Food Truck Owners,
My name is Karen Trauner. I own Sticks and Cones Ice Cream trucks in Charlotte, and also run CharlotteFoodTrucks.org and EatFromATruck.com.
You may remember that last year we organized 'The Carolinas' Largest Food Truck Festival' on September 10th at The Music Factory in Charlotte. Some of you may have attended (it was nice to meet you!).
We learned a lot last year! Overall, for a first year event, the 2016 Festival did quite well. But of course, we realize that there's room for improvement, so we've been discussing changes to 2017's Festival, which we're planning for September 23rd.
All details are still under discussion, but this is what we're thinking:
Here's what's staying the same:
*We're in the same location
*We'll be donating a portion of the proceeds to charity
*There will be a fee for guests; right now we're planning on two different price ranges (more on this to follow)
*We'll have music and a kids' area (although a smaller kids' area)
*The truck fee remains the same, at $100
*Three Certificates of Insurance with Additional Insured will still be required
*At least one half size portion menu item priced at $4 or less is required
Here's what's been tweaked:
*We're cutting back on the number of trucks, with an aim to be Charlotte's Largest rather than the Carolinas' Largest. Hopefully this will allow each truck to get even more business.
*We're going to share the spotlight with craft beers, making it more like the very successful Moo and Brew Festival that was just held at the same location this past April
*The trucks will be set up in rows rather than around the perimeter as last year, since the trucks around the perimeter seemed not to get as much attention as those in rows
*There will most likely still be a gate charge, but it will be lower.
*We're praying harder for cooler weather (rookie mistake--last year we simply prayed for no rain; this year, we'll pray for no rain and a 70 degree day!)
